ABOUT EIKONIC

EIKONIC is an international award-winning, purpose-driven company, on a global mission to create a world free from oral diseases using its proprietary gold nanotechnology platform for the development of advanced biomimetic dental materials which help remove harmful biofilms, promote extended protection of teeth and gums, and the natural regeneration of oral tissues that are susceptible to disease.

As a dental clinician of 30 years, Ingrid’s primary role was treat tooth decay and gum disease. She witnessed their profound negative impact on quality of life of her patients. Oral diseases often lead to mental, social, and physical disabilities, and sometimes even death. Observing the links between gum disease and chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease and others, she was inspired to form Eikonic. Driven by her passion for prevention, oral health and recognising the connection between human health and the health of the planet, her vision is to create a world where everyone benefits from optimal oral health in an eco-friendly way.

Oral diseases are a global public health challenge, and unmet healthcare need that demands a paradigm shift in our approach to prevention and treatment. Eikonic is addressing the unmet medical need of oral diseases which impact 3.5 billion people globally.

Ingrid Rodriguez

CEO and FOUNDER

Deep industry experience within the dental sector, social entrepreneur, inventor, Founder & CEO of Eikonic R&D, an international award-winning, purpose-driven company whose vision is to help create a world free from oral diseases. Caring for people and the planet is the DNA of her company.

Ingrid is an international speaker, regularly invited by Horasis founder, Frank-Jürgen Richter, (former director of the World Economic Forum), to the chair and participate in panel sessions in the USA, Europe and Asia. She is often invited to participate in round table discussions with state and federal government ministers on topics involving female-led businesses and innovation in the life sciences.

Ingrid has a business and life coaching background, experience working within the corporate sector. She has mentored CEOs and founders of female-led businesses and has been invited as a panellist to judge MBA pitch events and various other entrepreneurial programs.

Founding member of Invetech - Pioneers in R&D, product design & development; A member of the development team that led Invetech to public listing (as Vision Systems) and then to the acquisition by the US Danaher group for over $800M.

A specialist in technology commercialisation and strategy for the development of start up companies. He has 40 years of experience working in the field of process and product development and related R&D for a range of clients from high tech start-ups to “smoke-stack” industry global companies.

Dr Gerrard Eddy Jai Poinern

SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR

PhD in Physics. Gérrard is the Director of the Murdoch Applied Nanotechnology Research Group and a senior lecturer in physics and nanotechnology at Murdoch University.

He is an internationally recognised expert on the field of nano-science, including green synthesis of nano-materials, gold nanotechnology and bio-nanotechnology. He has authored multiple books and book chapters on these subjects. In 2021, he had a scientific paper published in the peer-reviewed, Scientific Reports Nature, one of the world’s most prestigious scientific journals.

Gérrard is the recipient of multiple national and international awards and has had multiple innovation patents granted. In 2003, he discovered and pioneered the use of an inorganic nano-membrane for potential skin tissue engineering applications. He has been a recipient of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Global Grand Challenge in Health Innovation Award for his work on the development of biosynthetic materials and their application in the manufacture of biomedical devices.

Gérrard’s research interests include nanotechnology-based applications for environmental remediation, food security, bio-mimicry, photo-thermal and photovoltaic applications, and carbon technologies. He also has various articles published in top international peer review journals.
